My journey into counselling was inspired by my own experience as a client. I understand the apprehension that can come with seeking support. Central to my approach is the cultivation of a meaningful relationship between us. I believe we as human beings thrive when we feel understood and connected to. Through this relationship we can unfold and explore our full potential. We all get stuck sometimes and I believe counselling helps us get unstuck and live a value-rich life.
I have a particular understanding of the unique joys and challenges GSRD (gender, sex, relationship diversity) clients may face and so am best suited to working with those who might find themselves minoritised or marginalised due to aspects of their social identity.
I offer a warm, confidential and affirming approach that welcomes individuals of all ages, genders, sexualities, races, and backgrounds. I am committed to providing compassionate trauma informed care. I believe that therapy is fundamentally about the client. We will collaborate to understand your experiences from multiple dimensions and work with them through a pathway of stabilization, processing and the integration of new tools and concepts.
As a fully qualified counsellor I am confident I work effectively with a wide spectrum of situations, problems or issues. There are a number of approaches and models I draw on to help find what is most effective for you. Sessions typically take place once a week, sometimes twice a week, sometimes every other week.. It is possible to work in the short-term, towards a focussed goal (maybe 4-6 sessions) or in the longer-term with ongoing support (1 year+).
