Hello, I'm Cat and I offer person-centred counselling face to face at a central Peterborough location (PE1) or if preferred remotely online/via telephone. The work we do will vary according to your needs.
About Me
My journey into counselling was inspired by my own experience as a client. I understand the apprehension that can come with seeking support. Central to my approach is the cultivation of a meaningful relationship between us. I believe we as human beings thrive when we feel understood and connected to. Through this relationship we can unfold and explore our full potential. We all get stuck sometimes and I believe counselling helps us get unstuck and live a value-rich life.
My Approach
I offer a warm, confidential and affirming approach that welcomes individuals of all ages, genders, sexualities, races, and backgrounds. I am committed to providing compassionate trauma informed care. I believe that therapy is fundamentally about the client. We will collaborate to understand your experiences from multiple dimensions and work with them through a pathway of stabilization, processing and the integration of new tools and concepts.
As a fully qualified counsellor I am confident to work effectively with a wide spectrum of situations, problems or issues. There are a number of approaches and models I draw on to help find what is most effective for you. It is possible to work in the short-term, towards a focussed goal (maybe 4-6 sessions) or in the longer-term with ongoing support (1 year+).
“there is no such thing as a single issue struggle, as we do not lead single issue lives” Audre Lorde 1934-1992
Personal
How do you feel about yourself? How do you deal with everyday life events? This is your experience and my goal is to centre you in all things. We are each the ultimate expert in ourselves even when it feels we don't understand. I will work with you to find the answers that are right for you.
Relational
How do you relate to others? How do your relationships impact your mental health? Often as we work on ourselves we notice more about the people around us and the ways they affect us. We will work to centre you within your relationships.
Historical
Where do you come from? How does the past play out in the present? We will look at the context of your life to understand some of the roots of what makes you you. When you are ready we can face issues that may echo into your current life in different ways.
